The Story
High Melt Shea Butter is also known as Stearin, a fat fraction of shea nut butter with a higher melting point than traditional shea nut butter. This shea butter is a harder material than our softer shea nut butter and is white in color with an odorless aroma. Stearic acid is the primary fatty acid in high melt shea nut butter, followed by oleic acid the liquid fraction.
This type of Shea Butter is used throughout the cosmetic and personal care industry in the production of a wide range of topical products such as lip balms, body butter, and lotions. General formulations for cosmetic materials that may be exposed to changing or warmer temperatures utilize high-melt shea butter to help prevent any graininess or melting from occurring in the end product. This is also widely used as a cocoa butter alternative in formulations. Another great use of this higher melting point butter is to mix it with lower melting point oils to create your own custom butter.
Available as a white scent-free refined or ivory virgin with a mild typical shea butter smell.
A bucket wrench is recommended with the 20lb pail. Add one to your cart here. Â
Note: Â Natural butters and oils may melt during shipping or processing when exposed to high temperatures, and upon cooling they can sometimes re-solidify with a grainy texture or develop a thin white layer known as fat bloom (a harmless separation of fats such as stearic acid). This is a normal occurrence and does not affect the quality of your product. To restore a smooth consistency, simply warm the butter until fully liquefied, stir well, and then flash freeze in the original container or smaller jars. This process will return the butter to its creamy texture. Please note that returns are not accepted for graininess or fat blossom; if you have questions, contact us at [email protected].Â
