Glutathione is a water-soluble peptide made up of three amino acids: glutamine, glycine, and cysteine. It is an antioxidant that is present in all cells. Glutathione is a unique antioxidant, as it is produced in the liver. Most antioxidants have to be consumed through diet or supplements.
Glutathione protects thiol protein groups from oxidation and is involved in cellular detoxification and helps maintain healthy cells. It can effectively delay premature cell death, and increase cell regeneration. Glutathione benefits the skin and has been known to have anti-aging effects, may reduce fine lines and wrinkles, and increase elasticity.
It is commonly used in skin whitening products and products to even skin tone by inhibiting the activity of tyrosinase and the generation of melanin. When used topically, it will brighten a dull complexion while offering skin-restoring benefits.
Glutathione is compatible with Vitamin C, Arbutin, & Kojic Dipalmitate (KAD).
